1. Tell us a bit about your petLabrador Finney

Gaynor: My pet is a 9 month old black Labrador called Finney. My partner is originally from Preston and is a devoted Preston North End fan, so we named Finney in honour of the legendary footballer, Sir Tom Finney! (Finney has also turned out to be quite useful with a football!).

2. You recently visited the vet. What for?

I visited the vet because Finney twisted his back legs while scrambling about on a muddy river bank and subsequently became lame. After taking x-rays, my local vet discovered that Finney has severe hip dysplasia.

3. What was the treatment prescribed?

Finney was referred to an orthopedic specialist who took more x-rays and prescribed Previcox for relief of pain and inflammation; and Seraquin which is a supplement containing Glucosamine and Chondroitin which promotes healthy cartilage and normal joint function.

4. How much did it cost (including consultation fee, medicine etc…)?

So far, Finney’s treatment has cost in excess of £870. This includes consultation fees, medication and two lots of x-rays.

5. Do you have pet insurance?

Thankfully yes! I have pet insurance with More Than.

6. Why did you choose More Than?

I chose More Than to insure Finney because they gave the highest level of cover for the most affordable monthly fee and, being part of Royal Sun Alliance, they belong to a well known, trusted and long established company. So far I have been extremely impressed with the ease of claiming, the helpfulness of staff on the claims assistance line and the speed with which each claim has been settled. I definitely made the right choice which, given the discovery of Finney’s disability, was More Than lucky!
